Another FAFCO Sungrabber Solar Water Heating System Installed

Just this past week, Innerline Plumbing installed another FAFCO Sungrabber solar water heater for a homeowner in Duncanville.

FAFCO Sungrabber Innstallation

When we contacted the City of Duncanville Building Inspections department, they were excited to learn of this as they had not had a unit permitted to be installed in the city as of yet. The plumbing inspector had been looking forward to checking out one of these installations.

This installation included the following:

The installation of the FAFCO Sungrabber solar water heater system.
A new GE 50 gallon 12 year warranted electric water heater.
Installation of a new emergency drain pan and running new drain lines and T&P drain lines 30′ to exit outside of the house per code.
Permit with the City of Duncanville.

This installation was a project that was approved for the Oncor Take A Load Off, Texas Solar Water Heating Program. Through this program, the homeowner received a rebate incentive through the program in the amount of $1828.74. That is an astounding amount of just over 34% of the total cost of the project.

It gets even better though!

The remaining balance of the project, $3664.93 is eligible for the 30% federal tax credit. That credit would be $1099.48.

The homeowners’ final cost is $2565.45, which is right at 46.5% of the total cost of the project.

They should see a ROI in as little as 3-4 years!

I found out some interesting news today.

I found out that the 30% federal tax credit applies to the entire project price regardless of any incentives.

So the revised math would be:

    $5493.67 total project price
    $1828.74 Oncor incentive
    $1648.10 30% federal tax credit

$2016.83 total cost of project to homeowner
36.7% Percentage of total cost to homeowner
30% Percentage of total cost from federal tax credit
33.3% Percentage of total cost from Oncor incentive
